Job Description

The Sr. Sales Engineer is a technical customer facing role supporting sales and promoting customer satisfaction as part of the Sales Team. Working with large and medium-sized Content, Cable, Telcos and enterprises, the SE assumes the lead in architectural design, specification, quoting and maintenance of Platina's company products in a pre-sales environment. Working with field service engineers and account managers, SEs are responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues during customer installations. Consequently, outstanding customer service skills are a must. Candidates must have backgrounds in network planning and design, implementation, and operations. SEs also create and conduct technical presentations along with performing product demonstrations. They apply business and technology skills with structured methodologies to deliver complex solutions to the customer. This is a great opportunity for those seeking a technical leadership role. Primary Responsibilities: · Work with the Executive and Sales staff to analyze the markets and define strategies · Apply business skills and consulting methodologies to gather and analyze data, lead design work, and develop solutions while meeting customer expectations · Take an active role in working with assigned customers· Communicate directly with customers to diagnose and resolve issues · Develop and communicate the Platina value proposition to customers and prospects· Serve as a technical expert and evangelist for the Platina product offering· Serve as a bridge between customer and Platina product development, marketing and executives· Collect feedback from field teams and coalesce feature requirements for product management and product development · Support account team with customer meeting preparation and delivery · Maintain knowledge of competitive landscape · Maintain knowledge and skills by attending appropriate training and conferences and pursuing self-study · Support pipeline development by participating in the proposal process for example quotes, RFI and RFP responses· Become established as the primary technical reference by building trust and credibility with customers; partners and internal colleagues · Coordinates SE team and SE skill development· Give PM and PD visibility on market and customer feature requirements and project wins and losses · Partner with PM and PD to get information on roadmap, next product versions and strategies · Responsible for upholding Platina's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Expertise in Linux operating systems · Solid working knowledge of high-availability architectures, VLANs, Routing (L2/3), and TCP/IP · Network: Experience troubleshooting customer issues Qualifications: · 10+ years internet working experience · BS/BA or equivalent work experience · Fluent in spoken and written English. · Background in Datacenter network planning, implementation, and operations is required · Network design background is required Others: · Job may be located in Denver, CO or Santa Clara, CA.· Job may be performed on-site at a customer facility or data center, or in an office environment sitting at a desk or computer table. · Duties require the ability to travel up to 80% via automobile and airplane, and may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
