Job Description

I. General Summary:

This position is responsible for leading design, development, and solutions of the Company's database marketing systems. While contributing in database development individually, this role will supervise the work of Database Development team members to ensure that development efforts produce high quality, low maintenance, and scalable solutions for clients. This position will focus on developing processes, procedures, and workflows to ensure efficient utilization of resources to meet specified goals.

II. Essential Job Functions:*

  • Responsible for scope and design of all project work on the team.
  • Provide day to day assistance to engineers and production developers to support the team's accounts.
  • Modify, test, and support applications for the purpose of upgrading or enhancing database software.
  • Lead design and development of PL/SQL processes to perform complex ETL processes.
  • Lead development of Unix and Perl scripts for data auditing and automation.
  • Construct and design documents and documentation to aid in maintenance and code reuse in accordance with team processes and standards.
  • Participate in code reviews in accordance to standards.
  • Analyze data needs and independently develop logical and physical data models.
  • Coordinate the implementation of database application components.
  • Interact with key partners and internal users regarding timelines, technical issues, and infrastructure integration.
  • Understand and work with data in with varying degrees of complexity and scale.
  • Coordinate and participate in application testing and quality inspections.
  • Ensure data is integrated consistently, accurately, and in a timely fashion.
  • Define, analyze, and test changes to databases and enhancements.
  • Facilitate discussions with Sales, Operations, and IT staff to establish requirements, define scope, communicate changes, and scheduling of project
  • Coordinate and implement new and existing data processes and projects.
  • Develop and document processes to keep work flowing efficiently. Identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide the team with feedback as it pertains to project performance. Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to team members.
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress of projects. Prepare and distribute related reports.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

IV. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of and 8-10+ years of experience in relational database, and programming processing concepts.
  • 5+ years of previous hands-on database development experience is required.
  • 3+ years of previous management experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles and methodologies.
  • Possesses advanced software development and scripting skills for use in automation and interfacing with databases.
  • Expert knowledge of and 5 years of experience in ETL tools.
  • Expert knowledge of and 5 years of experience in Oracle database skills (SQL, PL/SQL, SQL tuning).
  • Knowledge of MySQL, SQL Server and T-SQL desirable.
  • Knowledge of developing procedures, packages and functions in DW environment.
  • Knowledge of Unix and Linux.
  • Ability to write technical specifications and documents.
  • Strong database knowledge and knowledge of QA processes and methodologies
  • Ability to lead a team of analysts
