Title: Practice Leader - PostgreSQL Database Services

Location - Anywhere int the US with ability to travel up to 30%

Datavail is looking for a Practice Leader for our PostgreSQL Database team with a successful record of leading enterprise customers through a variety of transformative projects involving consulting, complex database solutions, and hybrid cloud operations as well as supporting production environments both on premises and in the cloud.

This role brings an exciting opportunity to grow Datavails PostgreSQL Database practice. You will be working with multiple cloud partners such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud. This is a very consultative role that requires the ability to be technical and at the same time speak at the business level with customers and partners. The role will manage multiple consultants, both onshore and offshore.

Responsibilities

Lead the PostgreSQL database team, both onshore and offshore
Work to grow the PostgreSQL practice by working with Marketing, Sales and the SVP of Database Services
Deliver value - lead high quality delivery of a variety of customized engagements with partners and enterprise customers in the commercial and public sectors.
Lead great people - attract top IT architecture talent to build high performing teams of consultants with superior technical depth, and outstanding customer relationship skills
Be a customer advocate Maintain and build a world class database team that can meet the needs of our customers
Reports to the SVP of Database Services Basic Qualifications

BA/BS degree or equivalent experience; Computer Science or MIS background preferred
Must have experience in Amazon RDS, Aurora and EC2 PostgreSQL
Experience with AWS DMS
Demonstrated growth over 5+ years experience working as a data engineer.
Experience with Large databases > 1TB.
Knowledge of OLTP and OLAP benefits and differences in PostgreSQL
Knowledge of writing & editing bash, perl, or python shell scripting.
Demonstrated pgsql experience
Basic PG Admin skills: installation, configuration, optimization, performance tuning, monitoring, maintenance tasks, managing user roles in Postgres, scalability, vertical sharding, replication, backup/restores including PITR, normalization/demoralization
Should be familiar with working in a SDLC environment with tight collaboration between team members, proactive in sharing knowledge with team members.
Completed multiple RDBMS to PostgreSQL migrations
Should stay up to date on PG security patching, major and minor upgrades
Preferred experience in pgpool2, pgbackrest, barman, pgbouncer, pgbadger
3-5 years experience as a technical team leader
Experience in participating in the sales process as a technical SME Preferred Qualifications

AWS Certifications Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect
Highly technical and analytical, possessing 15 or more years of progressive technology implementation and support experience
Good written and verbal communication skills to include customer requirements and technical documentation.
Ability to foster positive customer relationships and tactfully communicate observations and recommendations.
Experience as a consultant in the technology field
Ability to travel to client and partner locations when needed
