The Division of Academic Analytics (DAA) at NYU Langone Health is recruiting an individual skilled Information Management developer who will contribute to the work of building and enhancing the data analytics infrastructure for the research mission. DAA is the R&D department for academic analytics and, as such, develops advanced analytical and decision support tools for education and research. The analytical and decision
support tools developed by DAA play an essential role in advancing the research and education initiatives of the School of Medicine.
Work closely with Medical Center Information Technology (MCIT) and Research Mission leadership, team members and organizational partners to understand business requirements that drive the design and implementation of quality analytical and decision support tools .
The Information Management developer will be primarily responsible for designing and developing data repositories, business intelligence and decision-support tools using data modeling, ETL, data visualization techniques and analytics. Generally working with a small team of developers and analysts.
Design, implement and maintain ETL processes from multiple data sources
Monitor production jobs and resolve any issues in a timely manner
Define and capture metadata and rules associated with ETL processes
Map Source System Data to the Data Warehouse Data Model
Query Tuning/Optimization for performance
Data warehouse design and development
Develop data visualizations, dashboards and reports and using Tableau and/or other analytics software
Configuring and administering data and dashboard security and access
Maintain Data Quality and Integrity of the data warehouse
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and 3+ years of experience.
Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL skills
Experience with various RDBMS (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server…)
Expert knowledge and experience with ETL concepts, processes and tools (Informatica, Pentaho
Expert knowledge of Tableau development, including visualizations, parameters, report optimization,
security, and complex calculations, such as Level of Details Expressions
Strong relational and dimensional data modeling skills
Knowledge of query tuning and use of indexes
Business Intelligence (BI) experience with a strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, Data
Modeling concepts and design.
Must have a strong capacity for delivering on deadlines, attention to detail and documenting work.
Excellent analytical and communication skills
Programming skills i.e. python
Experience with wireframe, diagram, workflow software tools, i.e. Lucidchart or similar
Experience with performance tuning analysis
Knowledge of statistical methods and data science
Advanced analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, big data (hadoop), statistical
Knowledge of Linux (Unix)
Familiarity with data governance platforms, i.e. Collibra
Experience with project management software, i.e. JIRA and DevOps tools, i.e. Gitlab
